One of the many outcomes of the attack on 9-11 is legislative and operational initiatives creating a tighter coupling between local criminal intelligence operations and military activity.
The 9-11 Commission Report identified a critical need for improved information sharing at all levels of government. To accomplish it, state and local agencies are adding capabilities that were once available only to intelligence agencies and Joint Service Special Operations. Going forward, those lines of demarcation will become increasingly blurred and perhaps inseparable.
