In traditional FNH fashion, Fabrique Nationale Herstal’s design team have done an extraordinary job of producing what I comfortably refer to as the most flexible sniper platform available on the market. Developed specifically to meet the needs of USSOCOM’s PSR program, the FNH Ballista leaves nothing to be desired.
Ballista’s modular architecture allows for field conversion to any of three calibers: .338 Lapua Magnum, 300 WinMag and .308 Winchester. The conversion is easily made in 1 to 2 minutes depending on conditions by simply loosening four captive barrel screws, swapping out the bolt head and exchanging magazines. Head-spacing is achieved through implementation of a self-adjusting bolt assembly.
The chassis is fully adjustable in all planes and it’s constructed of aluminium, polymers and steel weighing in at just 17 pounds. The chassis is both light and rigid, and ships with a folding stock making the system jumpable. There is ample rail space at the 12, 3, 6 and 9 o’clock positions to accommodate any conceivable array of accessories.
Although competition in its space is stiff, the FNH Ballista is almost certain to do extremely well because it really leaves nothing to be desired.
How much, how long and wehn can I have one.
