Extrema Ratio, purveyor of the world’s best military knives, has introduced the GLAUCA B1 folding knife. This knife is a collaborative effort between Extrema Ratio, Prato, Italy and the French Groupe d’Intervention de la Gendarmerie Nationale (G.I.G.N.). The G.I.G.N.’s role is counter-terrorism and hostage rescue.
For the project, Extrema came up with a new tip design, that I’ll call a double Tanto, to enhance penetration. The knife also features a glass breaker, a tool for cutting plastic restraints, a reversible clip and a safety. Extrema’s implementation of a safety is robust and locks the knife in the open or closed positions. When the knife is locked open, it assumes a fixed blade like quality, so tasks that you would normally not think possible of a folding knife are fair game for the Extrema folder.
