FORT BENNING, Ga., Sept. 11, 2012 – The Maneuver Center of Excellence will host a Live Fire Demonstration, Media Hands-On Weapons Familiarization and Media Event from 1-5 p.m., Sept. 20. Soldiers with recent combat experience will discuss multiple program updates including:
* Female Body Armor
* Advanced Combat Helmet
* Helmet Sensors
* Camouflage Phase IV Process
* Army Combat Uniform-Permethrin
* Pelvic Protection
* Individual Carbine Competition
* M4 Carbine Product Improvement Program
* M2A1 program
* Soldier Power
* Enhanced Night Vision Goggle
* Thermal Weapon Sight (17 micron)
* Multifunction Aiming Light (PEQ -16B)
* Nett Warrior program
The media event will provide an opportunity for face-to-face discussion with Command Sgt. Maj. James Carabello, MCoE Command Sergeant Major; Command Sgt. Maj. Timothy Guden, U.S. Army Infantry School Command Sergeant Major; Command Sgt. Maj. Emmett Maunakea, Program Executive Office Soldier Command Sergeant Major and other Soldiers with recent combat experience. These subject matter experts, along with project managers from PEO Soldier, will be available for a question and answer session following the discussion.
During the live-fire exercise, Infantry Fighting Vehicles will engage multiple targets. Mortar Carrier Vehicles will provide suppressive fire with 81mm mortars. A nine-man Infantry squad will conduct an attack with squad weapons – the M4 Carbine, M249 Squad Automatic Weapon, M203 Grenade Launcher and the AT4 Anti-tank Missile – and various enablers like optics and lasers. Following the demonstration, media will have the opportunity to fire selected small arms weapons.
