Daniel Xu, reporter for Outdoor News, writes that Comcast, the nations largest cable network, stopped accepting and ceased all gun ads as February 8, 2013. Apparently, the change in policy came about when Comcast merged with none other than NBC Universal. The new policy is across 40 states and affects over 22 million homes passed. This is particularly disturbing since cable service providers have monopolies in the markets they serve. Absolutely mind boggling!
To the individuals impacted by this ridiculous policy, consider taking your business to Dish Networks. To advertisers who still believe in free trade and The Constitution, pull your ads and place them with a network or cable provider that believes broadcasting is part and parcel of the right to free speech in America.
Comcast recently defended its position with the following statement:
Consistent with longstanding NBC policies, Comcast Spotlight has decided it will not accept new advertising for firearms or weapons moving forward. This policy aligns us with the guidelines in place at many media organizations.
Wonder if the next step is to ban all TV shows that use the word gun or have guns in them…

Not likely, too many of the anti-gun community line their pockets with that type of entertainment. The left side of the political spectrum wants the European model of government, where you’re told want you can do and what you can not do. America’s success comes from being told that you can do anything that your heart desires but you are held personally accountable for your actions. My concern starts with parenting and what seems, at least to me, a trend to shed responsibility for raising your kids and leaving it to schools, and the federal government.
