SOFIC 2013 Beretta ARX-160A1

Beretta’s ARX160A1 a contender in the US Army’s Carbine Competition will become the ARX100 when the commercial variant goes into full production later in the year. Beretta’s management expects the first units to hit the shelves this summer.

The ARX100 will have all of the features available on the ARX160A1 with exception of the selective fire trigger pack. When I was first introduced to the ARX160A1 back in 2011, I felt it was the most ergonomic and operator friendly carbine on the market. It’s now 2013 and I still hold that thought.

Earlier this month, stories surfaced suggesting the Army’s Carbine Competition was being terminated citing that General Odierno was “very comfortable” with the M4A1; however, vendors have yet to be formally notified so it may be prudent to shelve that thought until notifications are in the mail.

In the meantime, Beretta will be giving the commercial space something to look forward to in the ARX100, which will launch in 5.56 x 45 and 300 Blackout.
