Parabellum Armament Co. LLC , Grove City, Ohio took to task bringing the AK pattern rifle into the 21st Century. They initially tackled solving the problem of adding a Picatinny rail to the AK that could hold zero; one that placed the optic back and closer to the shooter. The highly successful AK Adaptive Rail System or AKARS sold for $129.99 and soon became part of AK builds and field upgrades.
Their second step is production of the Ratchet Charging System or RCS, which will make its debut at SHOT SHOW 2014. The RCS, replaces the standard AK gas tube, and in the process provides a left side forward mounted non-reciprocating charging handle with true bolt hold-open. My last discussion with Parabellum Armament in regards to its RCS was early 2013 and at the time M.S.R.P. was expected to come in at the $160 to $170 point. We’ll have to wait and see what the actual selling price will be.
