In spite of a weak economy, SHOT SHOW gets bigger and better.
In the compact pistol category, Remington’s R51 and Glock’s 42 captured the bulk of attention. The Glock 42 is a compact, single stack 6+1, 380 ACP.
In typical Glock fashion there are no differences in the internals. The 42 features dual guide rod springs.
Remington’s R51 design was both innovative and exciting.
The R51 is an easy to rack compact, rated for 9+P, with an excellent trigger and an even better reset. I was very much impressed by the grip safety – a la 1911.
Remington is shipping two models, R51 subcompact and the subcompact with Crimson Trace laser. Later in the year Remington plans an offering with a threaded extended barrel for suppressed operation.
