Every year, as a reader service, we publish our list of suggested stocking stuffers. We offer our readers what we think are some great gift ideas, be they for self or others. This year’s list consists of 10 items that we feel represent the best technology available and / or excellent values from our business partners. Our business partners are not paid advertisers but they’ve always been there for us. Their business ethos is excellence in both product development and customer service. They have earned our respect and deserve your patronage, so be sure to check them all out.
First on the list is ATN’s Shot Trak HD. This is the first HD video camera on the market that has been specifically designed to be gun mounted. The camera uses a 5 Megapixel CMOS sensor, 1920 x 1080 / 30 fps (Full HD), built in microphone, supports a MicroSD card up to 32Gb and runs on one CR123A battery. Next on our list is Bushnell AR Optics TRS-25 High Rise. This is a micro red dot sight that delivers 3000 hours or run time on a CR2032, absolute zero retention. You can drop it, kick it and dunk it with no loss of zero or damage to the optics. With the Bushnell riser you get a near perfect BUIS co-witness. The TRS-25 is IPX7 compliant. The nicest part about this sight is that it is available from online retailers for under $100 that’s if you can find them in stock. Read my review here
We were extremely impressed with Steiner’s MK3 Battle Light. It delivers 500 lumens of well collimated visible white light and it features 600mW eye-safe IR illuminator. The light uses Laser Device Inc’s Picatinny rail QD mount an is exceptionally rugged. It weighs a mere 8 oz and is submersible to 5 meters. The MK3 Battle light is designed and built by Laser Device Inc a Steiner Optik division. M.S.R.P. $699 but it’s available from TNVC for $599. You can read my review here.
The OTIS Technology MSRS rail system is the perfect addition to your carbine. Installation involves removing of the plastic hand guards and delta ring. It uses the standard barrel nut and there’s no need to mess with the gas system. It has to be the best fit of a two piece quad rail system on the market. The MSRS is designed to Mil-Spec standards and was developed specifically for the U.S. Military. M.S.R.P. $239.99 and is available directly from OTIS Technology. Read my review here.
The Crimson Trace Rail Master Pro is the personification of design excellence in our view. This laser light combination comes in an extremely compact and robust package that does away with the traditional paddle switch activation. The light delivers 100 lumens of intensity with an abundance of peripheral light that has to be seen to be believed, especially when you consider its size. The laser output is a 5mw red laser but it’s also available with a green laser at a slightly higher price. The Railmaster Pro (red) has an M.S.R.P. of $249 and it’s available directly from Crimson Trace or Brownell’s Read my review here
