Steiner eOptics has introduced the DBAL-A3, which is a dual beam laser with IR illuminator. One of its more interesting features is the visible override function that allows you to integrate a weapon mounted light without the need for multiple remote pressure switches. The operator simply inserts one end of a Y-cable in the visible override port allowing him or her to very quickly switch to visible illumination, and as I previously stated all this happens from a single remote pressure switch. A second very nice feature is that the visible and IR pointers are slaved, so zero one and you’ve zeroed both.

The illuminator can be focused to provide short range wide field of view illumination as well as a narrower longer range beam that will mark a target out to 250 meters. There’s been some mention that the maximum effective range for the illuminator is 400+ meters but that may be somewhat ambitious.

The DBAL-A3 is not yet available, but availability is looking good for Q2 2015 at an M.S.R.P of $1,249.
