Late in 2015, Surefire introduced two weapon mounted lights with some very impressive features, the X300V and X400V IRC. These lights are high performance tools with price tags not for the faint of heart.
The SureFire X400V IRc is a dual-spectrum handgun weapon light with an integral Class 1 infrared-laser for use with night vision devices (NVD). The X400V IRc’s secret sauce is its infrared LED in the innovative V-Series head.
In white-light mode this light delivers 350 lumens of visible light shaped by its TIR lens into a focused beam with significant reach and substantial peripheral illumination. Switching to IR mode is quick and simple, just push and twist the self-locking bezel selector In IR mode you get 120 mW of IR illumination for applications involving NVDs; there is also an off setting on the bezel.
The civilian legal <0.7 mW infrared laser is ideal for use with night vision devices during stealth operations. The laser-sight is adjustable for windage and elevation using Nylok® screws that won’t back out from the effects of recoil and holds zero. An amber-colored LED laser-indicator lights up whenever the laser sight is on.
Activating the light is done using its ambidextrous paddle switch which allows the operator to select momentary and constant-on modes.
A separate mode selector on the rear of the X400’s laser module lets you select an array of modes which work in concert with the spectrum selected on the bezel selector. This mode selector offers the choice of: an off setting, laser only, light and laser (bezel selector must be in IR mode for full infrared capability), primary beam only, and a second off setting.
Fits: Handguns and long guns with a MIL-STD-1913 (“Picatinny”) rails. MR adapter mounts available for some handgun models without rails. M.S.R.P. $875
Late in 2015, Surefire introduced a new and improved version of their standard setting X300 weapon light designated as the X300V. This light features white-light and infrared output capability from an all-LED V-Series head. Switching between modes is easily done by pushing and twisting the knurled self-locking bezel selector.
In white-light mode, the X300V generates a 350 lumen tightly focused beam. In infrared mode, the IR LED produces 120 milliwatts of IR output for use with NVDs. There is also an off setting on the bezel which disables the X300V for maximum light discipline. Activating the X300V is done via its ambidextrous toggle switch, constant-on mode is also supported. The X300V Weapon Light can be quickly attached to a handgun or a long gun using its Rail-Lock® system, which permits solid attachment to any Universal or MIL-STD-1913 (Picatinny) rail. M.S.R.P. $429
Surefire’s latest addition is the Sidekick an Ultra Compact Variable Output LED personal light. This light is rechargeable via USB and designed to attach to keys. This polymer-bodied light features three levels of output. On high, light output is 300 lumens, medium delivers 60 lumens and low a very handy map reading 5 lumens. Runtimes range from 1.25 hours on high and 45 hours on low. Sidekick is a versatile great little light for the entire family. M.S.R.P. $79.99
