EOTech is also jumping into the midrange magnified optics space. The company introduced the Vudu line of rifle scopes in three magnifications of 1 – 6 x 24mm, 2 – 10 x 44mm and 3.5 – 18 x 50mm and all models feature a first focal plane reticle. EOTech has done something that I thought was pretty whiz-bang for their reticle illumination. They use push buttons along the circumference of the focus knob to control what is a very bright illuminated reticle. You won’t be loosing this reticle under bright light or highly reflective targets. Tube diameter for the 1 – 6 and 2 – 10 is 30mm and 34mm for the 3.5 – 18.
I had the opportunity to check out the 1 – 6 x 24 and felt it offered exceptional clarity. The turrets provide excellent tactile with no slop, each click is distinct. There was an abundance of diopter adjustment so folks with less than optimal vision will appreciate that. The magnification power ring was snug but very smooth and EOTech incorporates a throw lever. The 1 – 6 Vudu also sports the EOTech target ring reticle. It’s difficult to accurately asses if its 1x setting is a true 1x but I’d have to say it’s close enough for hand grenades and horseshoes. I think EOTech will do very well with the Vudu line of rifle scopes but it is a crowded space and even with its rock-solid lifetime warranty Vudu is up against stiff competition.
