There’s no grass growing under Magpul’s feet and consumers can expect a slew of new products from the company to start shipping in 2016. Before getting into to the traditional Magpul lines, I’d like to talk about their departure into the soft good space. Late in 2015, they introduced their water resistant Daka pouches in small, medium and large.
In addition to the Daka product, Magpul also launched the Core line of gloves with six models: Flight Glove, Technical Gloves, Patrol Gloves, Breach, Breach FR and Patrol. Each is tuned for its own specific application but what I really liked is that all have three-finger touchscreen capability. Now for the real news…
The wall behind the Core gloves holds some insight into the upcoming Magpul line of apparel. Shirts, T-shirts, pants, pouches all made with the durability that Magpul is famous for with some advanced materials at a great price point. Consumers can expect to see a rollout Q1 and Q2 of 2016. Not your typical tactical look but certainly attractive and high performance.
Along the more traditional lines, Magpul will be introducing late in 2016. The Precision Rifle Stock (PRS) Gen 3. The new version will be lighter and sell for about 25% less than the original PRS. Even at the lower price, you are giving nothing up. The PRS Gen 3 features QD cups port and starboard for sling attachment, precision toolless length of pull and comb height adjustment as well as cant. The Gen 3 will also use Magpul’s latest material designs.
Magpul is all in with the AK platform. In 2015 they introduced the Zhukov and Zhukov S (Yugo) right folding stocks along with the Zhukov hand guards with M-LOK slots. The company also introduced the PGM 30 AK / AKM Gen 3 which is the steel reinforced variant of the AK / AKM MOE version. You can read my review here
Also new for 2016 is the UBR GEN2, an adjustable stock for the AR15/M4, designed to offer the same strength and stability as a fixed stock with a consistent and comfortable cheek weld in any position.
The UBR GEN2 features a fixed cheek piece to provide a consistent cheek weld in any of its 9 positions, and is compatible with Carbine as well as A5-length buffer systems. The UBR GEN2 is about five ounces without giving up durability. It’s also 25% lower in price, which is always good news.n The UBR Gen 2 comes standard with front and rear QD sling attachment points, two footman’s loops, the ergonomic MOE SL angled-toe rubber butt-pad, and customizable storage compartment.
