The TiCAM 1000 LRF Target Locator from Thermoteknix is a versatile target acquisition and observation sensor for day and night-time use. The device has a direct-view optical channel for daytime use, a MicroCAM high resolution uncooled thermal imager, laser range finder, digital magnetic compass & GPS. Lightweight and compact, TiCAM 1000 is suitable for forward observation squads, infantry, border security and special units with varying levels of training.
The TiCAM 1000 operates from AA or Li-Ion batteries or external power. The day-time direct-view channel needs no power, and other functions consume power only when used. It can be connected to different combat and command systems, using either a cable or via wireless connection. In addition to its role as a transmitter of location information and coordinates, TiCAM 1000 can be used as a receiving terminal from external DMC/GPS.
Personal Eye System from MIL Sistemika is a personal tracking, navigation and data sharing application aimed at soldiers, police, security forces, emergency services and others who need topographic navigation, tracking, blue force tracking, and common operational picture sharing. PES was designed by active soldiers as a substitute for a traditional GPS receiver, paper map and a mobile phone. In house development by MIL Sistemika has enabled Personal Eye compatibility with TiCAM 1000.
It works on an Android platform and uses GPS and other device sensors for acquiring its location position which is then displayed on a raster map. It does not offer turn by turn navigation per se, such as Garmin or other navigation devices that rely on a road network data. PES can use online public maps (Yahoo, Google, Open Street Maps etc.), Online WMS maps (usually provided by internal GIS departments), offline maps stored on the device in TMS (tiled format), or offline cached maps stored while browsing online maps. The ability to use offline or cached offline maps is invaluable in areas with no 3G coverage or when cost of data transfer is a limiting factor.
Infantry, policemen, snipers and rescue workers, can now use TiCAM 1000 with PES or Sniper Calculator, to transfer measurements (targets) and target images directly to the map on PES, or use measurements for ballistic calculations. Potential uses are: Target data sharing among troops, JTACs (Joint Terminal Attack Controllers), use of target images for target recognition, or damage assessment. Use of target grids for sniper, mortar or artillery control is also possible. (separate gonio head recommended).
PES is now fully compatible with Android devices (v 2.3 – v 6.0.1) via Bluetooth. Connection with Windows or Linux based computers, and connection with BES (Battle Eye System) is under development, as is USB.
