It It’s Friday and time for our weekly shoot-the-shit. We’ve been busy doing a little clean up after Hurricane Matthew rolled in and are just now catching up, so we apologize for the conspicuous absence of last Friday’s shoot-the-shit topic.
For readers new to the site a shoot-the-shit is an unstructured dialogue where we present what we believe to be interesting topics that aren’t necessarily consistent with the blog’s central theme. Readers are encouraged to participate by making any unsupported claim or statement, use uncensored profanity, insult anyone you wish or change the subject all together. We don’t charge for this opportunity, and unlike some jackass who studied psychology so he or she could better understand themselves, our approach will always leave you knowing something you never knew before.
Readers there is so much crap going on that it’s becoming increasingly difficult to broach an interesting topic. The press, more specifically the New York Times and Washington Post have degraded their standing from press to propagandists for the Clinton Campaign. I’ll leave that thought by encouraging all of you to get out the #GUNVOTE.
To give you an idea of just how bad the press is, how many of you know about what is happening in the Philippines?
The Philippines and the United States have been great allies since the Spanish American War. We collectively defeated the Japanese in World War II, they were a major asset during Vietnam and more recently in our Global War on Terror. Filipinos are hardworking, decent, family oriented and all around wonderful fun loving men and women. The strategic importance of the Philippines to the United States can not be underestimated. However, that relationship is on the brink of collapse. Recently President Rodrigo Duterte announced his “separation” from the United States stating he had patched things up with China and the two have agreed to resolve their South China Sea dispute. His comments were made during a visit to Beijing, where he is visiting with at least 200 business people.
“In this venue, your honours, in this venue, I announce my separation from the United States,” Duterte told Chinese and Philippine business people, to applause, at a forum in the Great Hall of the People attended by Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli.
“Both in military, not maybe social, but economics also. America has lost.”
He continued…
“I’ve realigned myself in your ideological flow and maybe I will also go to Russia to talk to (President Vladimir) Putin and tell him that there are three of us against the world – China, Philippines and Russia. It’s the only way,” Duterte told his Beijing audience.
The writing is on the wall in both the Middle East and Asia Pacific and we need to get our act together tightly and swiftly.
We hope you had a great week. Be safe and get some quality time with your buds and family it is perishable.
Be safe and have a great weekend and let us hear from you.
