The National Tactical Officers Association (NTOA) to Offer Training Seminars at SHOT Show 2017

(November 2016) – TheNational Tactical Officers Association(NTOA), in addition to exhibiting in Booth #10353 at SHOT Show 2017, will once again offer attendees the opportunity to participate in NTOA training seminars. As part of the Law Enforcement Education Program (LEEP), participants will receive a Certificate of Attendance upon completion confirming course participation to document their training. The LEEP program focuses on the most contemporary law enforcement challenges and technology advancements. A one-time registration fee of $25 gives attendees access to all 2017 LEEP courses.

“Our seminars last year proved to be a sold-out success and some of the most highly demanded LEEP sessions available during SHOT Show. We’re excited to return this year with seminars we feel are significant and on-topic for challenges faced by today’s law enforcement officers,” said Mark Lomax, NTOA’s executive director.

Tuesday, Jan. 17

Active Shooter Update and the Advanced Police Officer

8:15 a.m. – 10:15 a.m.

Room: Marcello 4401A

Instructor: Don Alwes

Active shooter events continue to be of concern to communities and their law enforcement agencies. This presentation will review recent incidents for lessons to be learned and examine the ongoing evolution of law enforcement response. The NTOA’s Advanced Response Patrol Officer program is designed to prepare first-arriving officers to confront and neutralize the threat and save lives.

Wednesday, Jan. 18

Responding to Complex Coordinated Terror Assaults

8:15 a.m. – 10:15 a.m.

Room: Marcello 4401A

Instructor: Sgt. Jason Mudrock

Recent terror attacks that have occurred both globally and domestically have increased the importance of training and preparing officers to respond to these complex events. This seminar will provide basic guidelines that include training and response protocols to these types of events. The integration of tactics between patrol response, tactical response and integration of bomb squad/EOD will be discussed, as well as multijurisdictional communications.

Thursday, Jan. 19

Building Contemporary SWAT Training and Education Programs

8:15 a.m. – 10:15 a.m.

Room: Marcello 4401A

Instructor: Ed Allen

Today’s SWAT leaders struggle with balancing the increasing training demands of a highly technical law enforcement subspecialty while coping with decreasing training budgets and hours. This seminar will provide an overview of NTOA-recommended training requirements as outlined in the 2015 NTOA Tactical Response and Operation Standard, suggested training management plans and an overview of the NTOA Command College.
