Time’s Person of the Year recognizes individuals of considerable achievement and who’s lives are worthy of emulation. This year, Time named President-Elect Donald J Trump as its Person of the Year. Mr. Trump saw a country in need of direction and its citizens and their needs relegated to insignificance. AT great expense, and personal sacrifice, President-Elect Trump stepped up to the plate, taking heat from the Washington elite and a media who was in the Clinton’s back pocket, to deliver a win for our citizens and the Republican Party. No small feat when you consider his lack of political experience and his less than eloquent delivery. We couldn’t agree more with Time’s pick for this year’s Person of the Year.
However, good does not stand alone and there must be an opposing force, if only for reference, this is why we created the FOG Horn Jackass of the Year.
This year’s Jackass award goes to John Frederick Dickerson. This is a distinction we bestowed on Mr. Dickerson in 2013.
Mr. Dickerson wrote in an article published in The Slate…
“…Obama’s only remaining option is to pulverize. Whether he succeeds in passing legislation or not, given his ambitions, his goal should be to delegitimize his opponents. Through a series of clarifying fights over controversial issues, he can force Republicans to either side with their coalition’s most extreme elements or cause a rift in the party that will leave it, at least temporarily, in disarray…”
Rather than encouraging bipartisan cooperation, he felt that President Obama could decimate the Republican Party throwing it into disarray. Well Mr. Dickerson Surprise, Surprise, Surprise! You are our 2016 Jackass of the Year!
