A trip to Smith & Wesson’s exhibit would not be complete without taking a close look at their new rendition of the M&P 9, the M&P 9 M2.
In version 2, S&W took care of complaints with grip texturing, replacing a rather subdued M&P 9 grip with one that feels like a cheese grater. Very grippy! The new texturing is as aggressive as any I’ve seen before; especially on a production striker-fired pistol. S&W ships the M&P 9 M2 with 4 backstraps to fit any hand size.
Moving forward, Smith & Wesson leveraged the company’s lengthy experience producing very smooth triggers to deliver a much improved trigger for the M2 version. The new pistol’s trigger breaks cleanly and has short reset. It felt like a very clean 4 lb. pull to me. Nice!
The M&P 9 M2 also features a full length stainless steel chassis to add rigidity and improve accuracy. M.S.R.P. $599
