in thermal parlance, detection means that you will see a heat source, recognition range is the range that allows you to determine what your target is. The LTO has a recognition range of about 100-140 yards.

the controlled reticle does not perform a fire control function. The LTO is not a thermal weapons sight but rather an observation tool.
