If you like the Alfa Romeo Giulia, you’ll love Beretta’s new striker fired 9mm (or .40SW) offering, the Apex. The first thing that can be said about the Apex is riempire con anima italiana! I didn’t have the opportunity to shoot the Apex but as someone who’s been a Beretta fan for a good number of years I can not wait to get under the hood.
Beretta has included a number of very nice features like full length, very manly, slide serrations that make manipulating the pistol very easy. The Apex also has an very nice trigger with a short resent and breaks at 6lbs. My guess is that it’s closer to 5 lbs. The grip angle and aggressive beaver tail lets the pistol sit low in the hand making for a very natural and relaxed grip. It also ships with 3 interchangeable backstraps so users should be able to accommodate any number of hand anatomies Even better is the Apex’s low bore axis, which in addition to grip technique should help with muzzle flip. Last but not least is its 17 round capacity, in 9mm, and ambidextrous magazine release and slide catch. Viva Beretta! Oh, M.S.R.P. right around $535
