Shottist, A Custom Holster Business, Sold To Third-Generation Leather Worker

Andy Langlois, a purveyor of custom holsters for over 30 years, has sold his company Shottist to Merle Schlabach, a third-generation leather worker.

Campbell Hill, Ill. (June 2017) – Shottist, a purveyor of custom holsters for over 30 years, proudly announces it is under new management. Andy Langlois, founder of Andy’s Leather and Shottist, has sold Shottist to Merle Schlabach, a third-generation leather worker.

“We’re very excited about the acquisition of Shottist. Andy is going to stick around, consult and help keep us up to date with the latest in gun industry trends and needs. I’ve been working with leather since I was 12-years-old; I think combining Andy’s gun industry knowledge with my 36 years of leather working experience is a great combo and we look forward to making holsters that people can appreciate for years and pass on to future generations,” said Schlabach.

Schlabach lives in an Amish community in the rural green rolling hills of Campbell, Illinois. He is a third-generation leather worker and learned the trade from his father, who learned it from his father-in-law. Schlabach’s sons are fourth-generation leather workers and will be helping with Shottist.

Known for the traditionally madeYaqui Slide Holster for the 1911, Shottist makes both inexpensive and custom holsters for many types of handguns. Other products include a Scabbard Style Holster, a Belt Slide Holster, Pocket Holsters and custom leather belts. Shottist’s latest product is an IWB holster. Schlabach plans on growing and expanding the Shottist product range, including expanding into holsters for revolvers, as well as adding American tanned leather and exotic leathers to the holster material options.

“Quality is important to us and one of the things I’ve always said was that if you’re not completely satisfied, we won’t quit until you are,” said Schlabach.
