Nominations Open for NDIA CBRN Awards
NDIA is accepting nominations for the two Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) Defense Division Awards for presentation at the 2021 CBRN Defense Conference and Exhibition, scheduled for August 16 – 18 in Baltimore, MD. Deadline to submit nominations is June 1.
The Honorary William C. Baugh CBRN Defense Excellence Award recognizes the individual who has made the greatest overall contribution to CBRN defense programs during their lifetime. Achievements for which this award will be considered may relate to any of the many components that make up this highly diverse, complex, vital commodity:
- Research and development through the acquisition of capabilities needed by the warfighters and first responders;
- Identification of the ever-growing threats; or
- The innovations for training to the current or future fight and identifying readiness initiatives for business opportunities.
The Joseph D. Wienand NDIA CBRN Division STEM Excellence Award is in recognition of the greatest overall STEM achievement and/or efforts of an individual that most significantly impacted CBRN defense programs. This award recognizes the individual who, in the judgment of the panel, demonstrated outstanding accomplishment through their own personal innovation and creativity in the areas of STEM. Example areas include but are not limited to:
- Scientific, technological, engineering, or mathematical improvement; or
- Enhancement of a CBRN defense-related product, system, or process for the current year.
The awards will be presented at the 2021 CBRN Defense Conference and Exhibition. We value this opportunity to showcase the great work that has been done in the CBRN community in the last year and look forward to recognizing all the achievements!Poster Abstracts Now Accepted
In addition to award nominations, we invite high-quality professional posters that reflect the theme of “Responding Now – Preparing for Future CBRN Threats.” Submit your abstract by the deadline of Friday, May 21.

The CBRN planning team continues to monitor the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) situation. Currently, the CBRN Defense Conference and Exhibition is scheduled to occur as published. The health and safety of our event participants, members, and partners remain our top priority. We are committed to following the guidelines and precautions as outlined by the CDC.
NDIA is fully prepared to adjust any and all plans if the situation changes. We are following—and will remain in compliance with—all city, state, and federal guidelines. If the direction from federal, state, or local official public health authorities changes, we will adhere to the new guidance, act upon it immediately, and update everyone. We are fully prepared to adjust our plans as needed.
The NDIA team recognizes the importance of convening the national security and defense communities to promote the best policies, practices, products, and technology for warfighters and others who ensure the safety and security of our nation.
